WHAT DO I NEED TO GET STARTED?

We start every season with indoor training, so you probably need less to start with than you think!

1. SWIM CAP, GOGGLES, & SWIMSUIT

LADIES: We highly suggest finding a swimsuit that will do well in lap swimming, like a simple one-piece suit. This way, you will not have to worry about any wardrobe malfunctions while you practice! 
GENTLEMEN: Avoid baggy swim trunks with too many pockets, as this will only cause resistance and drag.

​NERVOUS ABOUT SWIMMING? DON'T BE!

We have certified instructors working with each of our students in a controlled indoor environment. Our instructors will teach you all about correct form and technique in order to help you feel confident in time for race day!

​2. WATER, WATER, WATER!

You will eventually need a road bike, but we start with training on stationary indoor bikes... We ALWAYS drink water while we are biking! On race day, the bike ride will be the best place to drink water, so we have to train our bodies to intake water while we train. 
Make sure you are staying hydrated by always keeping a full water bottle with you.

Our coaches are happy to help you find the bike you need. Whether you would like to purchase, borrow, or rent, just ask!

​3. RUNNING SHOES 

Having good gear will only help you... but there is no need to go buy the "latest and greatest" gear to get started. Just make sure you have supportive shoes that you can train and run in.

QUICK TIP! 
If you go to a store that specializes in running shoes like Fleet Feet or Swim|Bike|Run, there are store associates who will evaluate your foot in order to determine what kind of shoe will be the best for your foot shape! All you have to do is ask. Pretty cool, huh? ​

Bring a Friend!
No prior experience needed. Come dressed in clothing and shoes suitable for exercise, bring water, goggles/swim cap/swimsuit, a friend, and the will to try! We will show you the rest. Don't worry, you'll love it!

HSTriClub may have scholarship money to help any student with cost of events.
